Jacksonville has an eclectic mix of shops, stores, restaurants and lodging in a variety of venues throughout the city and the region.

Jacksonville continues to remain an important retail trade hub for many counties surrounding Morgan County. Love exploring boutique shops with one-of-a-kind treasures? Or, prefer major shopping centers with everything from lawn ornaments to the latest fashions? Whatever you want, you’ll find it here.

Morton Avenue is the hub for retail/commercial activity in the Jacksonville Region. There are national chains, local and specialty stores, and a wide variety of services. Along Morton Avenue, you will find a Wal-Mart Supercenter, Maurice’s, Applebee’s, Home Depot, Dunham’s Sports, Farm and Home, Ace Hardware, Walgreens, CVS and more!

Lincoln Square Shopping Center, which is also on Morton Avenue, houses J.C. Penney, Glik’s, Sears, Ashley’s Homestore, Famous Footwear and other clothing and retail stores. And, from May to October, a vibrant farmers market sets up every week to offer fresh produce, fruit and treats trucked in from surrounding farms and orchards. People can get everything they need and most of what they want on Morton Avenue.

Jacksonville’s downtown area and historic Central Park Plaza offers a range of shops and services, with unique gifts, crafts and artwork, as well as a nice selection of restaurants. Jacksonville’s historic city center is in the midst of an exciting renaissance to restore historic traffic patterns, improve access, enhance park amenities and landscaping, all making the downtown area even more appealing. As you might expect, the shops trend toward the special and the creative. Downtown, you can find a yoga studio, bookstore, specialty outlets, a variety of eating and drinking establishments – including a new juice bar. Our downtown also offers its own farmers market during the warm weather. Come downtown for a unique mix of gift shops, a fair-trade store, an ice cream shop, restaurants, coffee houses and specialty items. Stroll along the streets of historic downtown, and stop by any of the dozens of specialty shops for that one-of-a-kind treasure you can’t live without. A rare find of a book, a leather-bound classic, the hottest bestseller on the list today, or a gently used paperback – you’ll find your next great read right here. In addition, our Main Street program and local Art Association offer many fine arts events throughout the year. You’ll also find shops offering amazing arts and crafts from local artists.
