Qualifications:
  • Five to 10 years of experience in planning, economic or community development
  • Experience managing projects and personnel at a non-profit, public agency, or private company
  • Experience in fundraising campaigns, both planning and execution
  • Experience developing and executing marketing campaigns
Responsibilities:
  • Provides vision and leadership for the Jacksonville Regional Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, Executive Committee and the Jacksonville region as a whole
  • Develop a strategic marketing plan and pitch for Morgan and Scott counties, highlighting the strengths of the region and encouraging both workers and employers to relocate or expand to the region
  • Oversee a regional needs study, focused on determining the top needs of the employers in the region
  • Works with city and county governments to improve the quality of place in the region, assisting in the development of place-making strategies
  • Works with our stakeholders as well as city and county government to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem, assisting entrepreneurs in connecting to resources to support successful startups and new business growth
  • Lead efforts to grow business membership through strategic outreach and engagement with the business community
  • Works with our local institutions of higher education and local businesses to develop training and curriculum to meet the hiring needs of the local businesses
  • Works with JREDC staff, Board of Directors and Executive Committee to meet the goals of the organization’s regional plan
  • Develops and manages JREDC public relations and marketing efforts through presentations, press releases, media interviews, social media, paid advertising, website maintenance, and more
  • Serves as a community liaison between local development and community partners in the region
  • Raises funds to meet annually established budget
  • Provides grant education to small business and local governments
  • Assists the Vice President in preparation of Annual Report and Investor Appreciation publication
  • Attends all JREDC Board and Committee meetings, as well as any meetings requested by the Board of Directors
  • Performs all other duties assigned by the JREDC Board of Directors
Other Information:

The President of the Jacksonville Regional Economic Development Corporation provides continuous support for Morgan and Scott counties’ established industries, informs city and county government officials of requirements for economic projects, and develops relationships with statewide, regional and local economic development partners. This position leads all outward facing activities of the organization including program development, investor relations, community relations, small business assistance and workforce development. The position is also responsible for performing a variety of public relations, marketing, fundraising and professional activities.

The compensation package salary ranges from $75,000 - $100,000 and includes IMRF retirement and Morgan County benefits including 13 paid holidays and 10 vacation days upon the completion of the first year.
