Qualifications:

Required Experience

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • Must have and maintain valid State of Illinois licensure as a LCPC, LCSW or LMFT.
  • Must have and maintain valid State of Illinois Driver’s License, availability of own transportation, and proof of auto liability insurance

Experience:

  • Three years relevant clinical experience required with performance at an exemplary level required.
  • Two years of supervisory or progressive leadership experience preferred.
  • Two years previous experience with SMI/SED population preferred. Verifiable history of providing quality care to clients as indicated by references or demonstrated by internal work history.
  • Demonstrated track record of motivation, creativity, problem-solving and commitment to strengtheningthe profession and continuum of care
Responsibilities:

Required Skills

  • Plans and assists with implementing staffing plans to provide high quality patient care and services.
  • Works collaboratively and cooperatively with Medical Director.
  • Direct Clinical Services
  • Develop initial comprehensive assessment data including clients presenting problems, mental status, relevant psychiatric, medical and developmental histories to make decisions regarding diagnosis (per DSM-V), treatment objectives and ongoing treatment plans and/or to provide information and make appropriate referrals to other treatment resources in the community.
  •  Provide 19 hours of billable services per week to clients.
  • Implement crisis or pre-crisis intervention procedures with potentially suicidal, homicidal, or severely disabled clients. Where appropriate referrals will be made to consulting psychiatrists or inpatient psychiatric facilities to prevent further destabilization.
  •  Interview collateral contacts, previous and current treatment professionals, and significant others, to further establish a database for assessment and ongoing treatment plan as needed.
  • Clarify priority problems, goals for change, and session limits according to agency policy to assist clients in developing appropriate expectations for treatment in relationship to the agency. Use a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment approaches and interventions to change targeted behaviors and stabilize adaptive behaviors with individuals, couples and families.
  • Manage the termination process and discharge planning to enhance clients’ abilities to retain treatment changes and/or use other available support services. g. May organize, plan, and participate in therapy groups for clients and/or their families, as assigned.
  • Client Information System
  • Establish appropriate professional files, including comprehensive assessments, progress notes, treatment objectives and plans, previous treatment records, clients’ consent to current treatment and for exchange of information.
  • Complete required administrative forms. Collect necessary information for billing and fee collection for both community mental health and private pay clients.
  • Provide necessary client information to other agencies or health care providers to coordinate services to identified clients.
  • May prepare necessary documents/reports for DCFS as needed.

    • Supervisor and employee mutually identify professional goals that will enhance job related skills. b. Participate in ongoing agency meetings, committees, and special projects to enhance professional expertise.
    • Complete mandatory education requirements by specified deadlines.
    • Participate in required staff meetings and in-services to keep abreast of agency policy and administrative procedures, meet requirements for continuing education, and upgrade professional knowledge.
  • Consultation/Networking
    • Engage in appropriate teamwork functions (such as mutual support, clarification of office responsibilities and procedures) according to best professional judgment and agency policy to provide a professional working environment and effective service delivery.
    • Develop cooperative relationships outside the agency with family, physicians, public officials or interested agencies to provide for the development of mental health services in the community.

    • Demonstrate through initiative and apparent effort involvement in clinical supervision. Communicate directly with supervisor for clarification of administrative policy, program evaluation to promote a professional working environment and effective service delivery system.
  • Monitors employee performance and routinely coaches/trains staff. Coordinates and conducts staff performance appraisals based on direct observation and feedback of clinical staff and others. Uses sound management and HR skills to ensure staff’s productivity is maximized and operational service is optimized.
  • Attends all JCAHO, OSHA and hospital/manager specified mandatory in-services. Validates competencies and obtains credentials as identified in unit specific requirements. Minimum four contact hours of specialty, manager approved education within last 12 months (does not include Joint Commission mandatory inservices).
  • Performs analytical and decision-making functions without direct supervision, recognizing unexpected results, and taking necessary corrective action.
  • Manages and resolves customer feedback and actively elicits suggestions/input from the ALMH SLS treatment team and JMH Administration. Acts as a facilitator for continuous process improvement.
  • Maintains departmental operations and documentation in accordance with licensing and regulatory purposes. Establishes workflow processes and routines and adjust as volumes dictate; develops and monitors the appropriate performance metrics to track program outcomes and efficiencies.
  • Participates in strategic planning activities; completes assigned goals as part of the process; demonstrates support for (and participate as requested) in achieving organizational goals.
  • Maintains and demonstrates clinical expertise and competency.
  • Assists in schedule preparation and provides API management support for staff records.
  • Obtains psychiatric social histories within 3 working days after admission and record in patient’s record. Screens patients for possible SLS services and communicates with SLS staff.
  • Provides group, individual, and family counseling to patients and their families as requested by Medical Director or multidisciplinary team. Documents each session and supports information needed for Utilization Review criteria and patient treatment plans. Ensures documentation is recorded after each session.
  • Initiates discharge planning and coordinates with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. Secures discharge plans when patient is medically ready for discharge. Possesses a thorough knowledge of community resources.
  • Complies with the Illinois Mental Health Code and Confidentiality Act. Exhibits professional behavior is in accordance with organizational policies and guidelines. Provides evidence of continuing education.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary treatment planning through weekly team meetings. Demonstrates a leadership role in these teams.
  • Participates in the psychiatric patient program as needed and documents in patient’s record as necessary.
  • Assists, as needed, in the staff training, new employee orientation, student education, community education, in-house activities, and general public relations activities. Maintains awareness of, and compliance with, department and organizational policy and procedures.
  • Consults with treatment team members for individual treatment planning of difficult patients. Demonstrates knowledge of, and care for, older adults through accurate assessments and treatments.

Other Information:

In conjunction with the AVP, supervises and coordinates the JMH Senior Life Solutions program (SLS). Assists inplanning, organizing, and directing the management and clinical functions of SLS including personnel, delivery ofservices, quality monitoring/improvement processes, and compliance with accreditation and regulatory
requirements.

Provides clinical and supervisory leadership, including (but not limited to) employee staffing andwork assignments, employee satisfaction, hiring and direct supervision of personnel (in collaboration with Manager), orientation and/or training of all employees. Conducts staff meetings, implements policies andprocedures, and ensures patient satisfaction. Provides patient care and participates in discharge planning.
