Knowledge and skills in the field of childcare, at risk youth, and trauma-informed care is necessary. Ability to communicate effectively with participants in order to support, encourage, lead, and motivate positive behavior. Ability to work independently, communicate with program supervisor and collaborative partners, and maintain policy and procedure expectations.
High school diploma is required, must be 21 years of age.
Processes, and cares for the youth participants enrolled in the Porch Light Project shelter; serves as daily supervision and support of the residents, monitors activity of participants to ensure health, safety, security, and compliance of shelter rules; maintains accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information and individual participants needs; ensures that the shelter is maintained in neat and proper order.
Midwest Youth Services' mission is to divert youth from the juvenile justice and child welfare systems while helping to strengthen and restore families.
The Shelter Care Staff position is part-time and onsite. Shifts are from 4 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. (flexible). Shifts are based around availability a month in advance. These are on-call/standby shifts with pay.
Additional compensation will be earned if the employee is activated.
