Qualifications:
Verifiable documentation of education. Registered Nurses Certification with a State of Illinois License. Possess two (2) years of clinical Registered Nurse experience within the last five (5) years; at least one (1) shall preferably have been in developmental disabilities. Ability to deal with various medical situations as required. Ability to serve on On-Call rotation. Previous supervisory experience a plus. Ability to read, as measured by the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE), able to meet the requirements of Direct Support Person (DSP), medication authorization and the physical qualifications required for this position. Must be 18 years of age with valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
Responsibilities:
Job Summary
Primary responsibility will be an DHS Nurse Trainer, training staff in Medication Administration, and other trainings such as OSHA, CPR, AED, First Aid, and DSP. Provides medical and health procedures under the direction of the Medical Services Supervisor. Responsibilities and Duties Provides nursing care and support for adults with developmental disabilities. Assists with intake process, program planning, employee in-service education. Reports to or consults with physicians as needed about medical, physical, social, emotional, and other problems pertaining to nursing care/developmental needs of the person. Conducts home visits as appropriate to monitor health needs of the individuals supported. Maintains all appropriate documentation. 30 hours per week and on call rotation (hours may vary).
